Ilıca Beach with Golden Sands

Ilıca Beach, 3 km east of Çeşme, is one of the rare beaches in the world with its 2 km long, wide, fine white sand. It is 5 kilometers away from Çeşme district of İzmir. The beach, which hosts many local and foreign tourists in the summer, is one of the popular places for those who want to have a pleasant and unforgettable holiday. Ilıca has an eye-catching natural beauty with its immaculate beach, clear sea, and extended beach area.

Ilıca Beach is one of the biggest and well-known tourism centers of Çeşme with its qualified accommodation facilities and hot springs rich in sülfür. Hot springs in the sea of Ilıca are good for many ailments. Hot thermal water boiling in the sea turn Ilıca Beach and other beaches in the region into large thermal pools.

In Ilıca, a portion of about one hundred meters from the coast towards the sea is at a depth not exceeding the height of a person. Scientific findings have proven that ultraviolet rays are much more beneficial for human health in shallow waters, especially in waters fed by thermal springs. Also, this beach is very suitable for both beginners and children.

You can find a nice mixture of warm sea and wind in Ilıca. The afternoon wind relaxes you even on hot summer days.

The healing waters of Ilıca were discovered during the Ottoman period. There are two rumors about the history of the region. According to the first rumor, Egyptian Governor Tosun Pasha has an incurable disease. Doctors who fail to cure the Pasha hear that Ilıca is praised and advise him to go there. Tosun Pasha comes to Ilıca and gets rid of the so-called implacable disease. With the joy of his recovery, he had a fountain built in Ilıca.

According to the second story, the Ottoman navy came to Yıldız Burnu off Ilıca to get rid of the mussels and algae sticking to the bottom of the boats after long sea voyages, and their ships were anchored here. The water coming down from the hills warms underground and boils back from the sea with the minerals it has gained. These sulfurous waters dissolve algae and mussel shells at the bottom of the boats.

Today, Ilıca Beach is a place where you can do various activities and enjoy pleasant moments with your family and loved ones. Water sports and beach games stand out as the favorite activities of vacationers.
