Turkey’s Maldives: Lake Salda

Salda Lake is a somewhat salty lake surrounded by rocky terrain and small alluvial plains in Burdur's Yeşilova district, 4 kilometers from the district seat. Salda Lake has no outflow, implying that it is a closed basin. Salda Lake has a circumference of 44 kilometers. Salt Lake, Turkey's deepest lake, has a depth of up to 185 meters. According to some accounts, Salda Lake is the third deepest lake in the world.

Salda Lake's beach is white and evocative of the Maldives. That is why we are in Turkey and the Maldives. diyiy are Saldivar as well. The mineral magnesium is responsible for the sand's white color. In reality, when anything is left in the lake for an extended period, it turns white. This demonstrates that the lake continues to generate magnesite.

Salda Lake and the adjacent black pine forests are home to indigenous plant and animal species. There are three indigenous freshwater fish in the lake and wild boars, foxes, and turtles. Two mullein plant species are found solely on Salda's southern shore.

How to Get There

Using the shuttles at Ardak Airport, you must first travel to Denizli bus station and then take the minibusses that run every hour to Yeşilova. After approximately an hour and a half, you will arrive in Yeşilova, from where you may take a cab to Salda Lake. Some minibusses go from Yeşilova to Denizli.
