There are lots of famous fashion designers in the world. Istanbul is a center for almost everything and is also one of the main centers for the fashion industry. Here are some of the worldwide famous Turkish fashion designers that made Istanbul a fashion center.

Cemil İpekçi

Cemil Ipekçi is a globally famous fashion designer based in Turkey. His works are a combination of traditional Turkish motifs and modern lines. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in England at a very young age. He established his own fashion house in France. He often appears on Turkish television with his fashion shows. One of his most famous works is his designed clothes for street workers in Istanbul.

Raşit Bağzıbağlı

Raşit Bağzıbağlı, who knew that he wanted to be a fashion designer since childhood, introduced his first collection at the age of 22. In 2010, he won the Best Young Designer Award in Turkey. After that, his fame has spread across the world, and he won the Best Promising Young Designer Award in New York. He’s generally known for his gorgeous wedding dresses. In his career, he also worked with World-famous names such as Doutzen Kroes and Paris Hilton. His collections have been featured in fashion shows at Istanbul Fashion Week since 2015. He is also a part of fashion programs as a judge on Turkish television and currently shares fun videos about fashion on his Youtube channel.

Yıldırım Mayruk

Yıldırım Mayruk is one of the first names that comes to mind when it comes to Turkish fashion. He started working as a tailor at a young age, which led him into the fashion world. Mayruk is known for the glamorous outfits that he designs, especially for high society. His designs allow people to be the prince and princesses of their dreams. Yıldırım Mayruk, who exhibits his collections worldwide in cities such as Istanbul, London, and Tel Aviv, spends most of his income on donations for education.

Hüseyin Çağlayan

Hüseyin Çağlayan is a worldwide famous Turkish designer. His works are highly known all around the world. He and his family moved to England when he was younger, but he’s originally from Cyprus. He completed his education at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in England. He integrates the human body and clothing with technology, science, and architecture in his fashion designs. One of his most popular works is Lady Gaga’s famous balloon dress. America’s former first lady Michelle Obama also wore one of his creations in 2009. 

Cengiz Abazoğlu

Cengiz Abazoğlu was born in a family that had a textile business. So because of that, he entered the fashion world at a very young age. He finished his fashion education in Brussels. In 1991, he introduced his first collection in Istanbul. Since that year, he has prepared a new collection every year and has always donated his earnings to charities. Famous stars like Nicole Scherzinger, Lucy Hale, Carly Rae Jepsen, Selena Gomez, and Jennifer Lopez have worn Abazoğlu’s designs.
